An evening in the bar......
There you stand, a bit shy, on the stage, looking at your friend who shows you how to dance and act……it is quiet, we decide to get you a drink and invite you. You are nervous, a bit scared. We try to explain to you that we do not want anything. We do not expect anything. You are safe, but how can I make that clear to you?
A customer comes in, all the girls line up on the stage and walk by, the customer laughs and goes to the CR. I feel uncomfortable, but it is how it is.
You tell us you are 18 years old…..it is your second day in this bar, we ask about your life, if you have a dream, but you do not have. We ask what you like, but you do not know. When we give some examples we see your eyes reflecting hope when we mention you can become a teacher, we want to help you to go to college. You begin to relax a bit. You tell us your mother died 7 years ago (my heart cries, how can I be a mum for you, girl let me take care of you, let me help you….).
Meanwhile 3 girls disappear from the stage “paid” by a customer.
When we almost finish our drink and our talk with you, I give you my card and I give you my number…. I only say to you: “Think about everything we said tonight and just call when you want to give your life another direction…..”.
At home I cry in silence….. O God how my heart and soul cries out to get her out of that life and show her that there is hope for another life….. if she could only trust me/us….. I know I have to let GO(D)..I know God hears my heart cry…..
Thank you Lord you give us hope for a future full of things we can not see yet…
